Another Social Media channel gearing up for Brands

23-Nov-2012

Pinterest has launched 'Pinterest for Business' to help Businesses get the most from this popular social media channel

It makes sense... businesses are already capitalising on the popular social media channel of Pinterest but now the creators of Pinterest have launched Pinterest for Business - specifically tailored for marketers.

Now you can sign up as a business and create Brand pages. The pages are no different in layout but you are now able to sign up as a Business (rather than by First name, Last name) and they have also launched the new functions of 'Pin it' and 'follow'. You are able to convert your existing Pinterest account to your business also.

So what are the benefits for your business?

Use it as an opportunity to get people inspired about your business and brand, share your values in an interesting pictorial way. From a brand perspective - people are much more inclined to purchase from your business (over another) if they can relate to your brand and have an emotional connection to your brand.

You could also use Pinterest to offer customers a 'sneak peak' at upcoming specials or promotions.

But don't get too commercial. Take the opportunity on Pinterest to provide an insight into the personality of your business and the people behind the brand.

Drive people to your website - interesting 'Pins' will have people clicking through for more information. Setup links to relevant and interesting articles that flow on from the 'Pins' topic.

Take the opportunity to build a community. Don't just 'pin' all about yourself - but collaborate with others and invite feedback. In coordination with your other social media channels - you could ask a question on facebook and 'pin' the response on your business Pinterest board.

The 'pin it button' is a great way to allow people to easily share your content on Pinterest while easily finding their way back to your website or blog.

Test and adjust - Pinterst provides a great opportunity to see what is working and what isn't and to adjust accordingly. Like all social media channels - it is a two-way street and takes ongoing review and tweaking.

Learn more about Pinterest for Business and refer to the branding guidelines to make sure you comply with the Pinterest rules anytime you use their identity or assets.
